After Midnight were formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England taking their name from the JJ Cale song. In the past 29 years they have become one of the best-loved bands on Tyneside. There have been many highlights over the years, including support slots with Doctor Feelgood, Steve Marriott & Jethro Tull.
For the past 14 years, the band have concentrated on their Eric Clapton tribute concerts, performed at theatres all over the UK & Europe, under the name CLASSIC CLAPTON. Highlights have included The Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury Festival. The band have toured Ireland, Scotland and Wales numerous times. They headlined an international music festival in Estonia in 2004 and were invited back for another successful concert in April 2007. They also appeared at the prestigious Sotogrande Blues Festival in Spain in 2007 and were invited back to Spain to perform in Madrid in January 2008.
In 2008 After Midnight played at The Acoustic Festival of Britain. It was a great honour for them to perform straight after Fairport Convention and just before Jethro Tull. In the past 29 years after Midnight have become something of a rock institution.
They have released three albums.
TYNE TEES TELEVISION made a programme about After Midnight, called 'COVER THEIR TRACKS'. They filmed the band's concert at Newcastle Opera House, in front of 600 ecstatic fans. It was shown in August 2000 leading to national recognition.
After Midnight comprises 4 excellent musicians:- Mike Hall (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Warren (keyboards/ backing vocals), Danny Davison (drums) and Dave Robson (bass guitar /backing vocals). Dave is a former member of chart band Geordie. In fact he was with them at the time Brian Johnson left to join AC/DC.
After Midnight continue to perform their CLASSIC CLAPTON concerts around the UK & Europe.
Unfortunately, the success of their tribute gigs has meant that local north east gigs have become few and far between. In the past 29 years the band has played numerous sell-out concerts at most of the north east theatres.
