Harrisburg native and NYC transplant Meaghan Farrell has been sprinkling heavy doses of happiness and excitement to audiences through her music and lyrics for over 10 years. The eager and passionate singer, performer, and writer, who finds bursts of inspiration everywhere from the shower to the streets of NYC, has been vocally compared to the likes of female rockers like Melissa Etheridge, Pink and Fleetwood Mac. Touching on the emotions of everyday life and drawing from past, tumultous experiences, Meaghan is set to release her new EP, "Coming Clean," funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign, and "I Scream," a bold and sassy single, both following up her first LP, "Waitress."
Influenced from childhood by everything from Billy Joel to Pearl Jam to Tori Amos, Meaghan was later moved by notable songwriters and musicians such as the late Jeff Buckley and Kings of Leon's Aha Shake Heartbreak. She moved to New York City and attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with the intent of pursuing musical theatre, but later discovered her truest self came out when writing and performing original work.
In addition to the release of Waitress in 2010, Meaghan has played some of NY's notable venues including Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Arlene's Grocery, Googie's Lounge, The National Underground, and Don't Tell Mama. She's shared a stage, lessons and conversation with a variety of reputable and talented musicians such as Stephen Katz, Julie Corbalis, Tisra Dewitt, Gus Fafalios and Rebecca Moreland, and wrote and recorded "Waitress" with Marc Osborn.
Recently, Meaghan teamed up with Grammy-award winning producer Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Pink, Anita Baker, Nelly) and songwriter Calvin Gaines (Destiny's Child, Lady Gaga, The Temptations) to record a brand new single set to release this summer. The trio pulled a new level of rock and soul out of Meaghan, carving a path full of energy, electricity and power for the upcoming tracks on the new EP. The single was recorded at Barbershop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ, and will be released in Fall 2012. She will also be releasing her EP, "Seeing Clearly Now," co-written and produced by Marc Osborn (Waitress) on iTunes worldwide in October 2012, and is currently in writing sessions developing new material for a variety of creative outlets.
The future serves to be a bright and plentiful for Meaghan Farrell, whose positive and enriching spirit is shared and felt by all those who experience a live performance.
