2012–13: Career beginnings and EarDrummers Entertainment
Before they became Rae Sremmurd, they were in a trio going by the name of "Dem Outta State Boyz" which used to upload videos to social media like YouTube and songs to Reverbnation, looking for recognition. They first became noticed by P-Nasty when his cousin had told him about them. P-Nasty had called them telling them he was interested in their music, and for them to make more music and get a video ready. Swae Lee had said, according to an article from Vice:
P-Nasty had called us, he was like yo, drop what ya'll doing we're about to start doing this music real heavy. Drop what ya'll doing and come to Atlanta.
After months of recording and practicing, they went to Atlanta to produce their first song with Marz Of The Eardrummers called "I Dip", and later produced a second song called "We". Neither of them received much attention.
