Saint Asonia is a rock supergroup, consisting of ex-Three Days Grace lead vocalist and guitarist Adam Gontier, Staind guitarist Mike Mushok, Eye Empire bass player Corey Lowery and former Finger Eleven drummer Rich Beddoe. The band recently released their first single "Better Place" and are expecting to release their debut album, produced by Johnny K, this summer. The band will release their self-titled debut album on July 31, 2015.
The band released their first teaser early May 2015, which featured the fact that "25 Top Ten Rock Singles" were shared between each member, 17 of which are number ones, and teased the band's first single, logo and clips of the band, speculation believed that the line up would consist of Adam Gontier, Mike Mushok, Rich Beddoe and Corey Lowery, however nothing was confirmed until May 16 when the band officially released their first single titled "Better Place", confirming the band's line up in the process, announcing Gontier being the frontman, Mushok being the guitarist, Lowery being the bassist and Beddoe as the drummer. When asked about the title of supergroup, Gontier stated that they are "...more like refugees that just hit it off creatively." while Mushok stating he was looking for a project to do while his main band Staind were on hiatus. The band have secured Johnny K as their producer of their debut album, which is currently in its final stages of completion and is expected to be released in summer, along with tour announcements.
The band made their debut live performance at Rock on the Range 2015 as the opening act for the main stage on May 16, and were billed as a special guest. Along with their first single, the band performed other original songs such as "Fairytale", "Dying Slowly" and "Let Me Live My Life", but also performed cover songs of Three Days Grace, such as I Hate Everything About You and Staind's Mudshovel. The band announced that their self-titled album to be released on July 31 that same year via RCA Records and will feature 11 tracks. The band released their second single, 'Blow Me Wide Open', on June 29.
When the band made their debut performance at Rock on the Range 2015, Metal Hammer described the band as alternative metal bruisers full of adrenaline. In an interview Mushock stated that the band was proud of how the debut album's final sound turned out, that it contains a mixture of heavy material along with some, as he says it, beautiful songs.
