Wood and Wire's Upcoming Concerts
Claire reviewed: Wood and Wire
I had never experience Wood and Wire before they had the challenging task of playing before David Crosby at the Kerrville Folk Festival. But they had me on my feet and buying an album before their set was over. Although I am also a fan of Allison Krause, my new favorite blue grass band is Wood and Wire! David Crosby was a little arrogant while acknowledging their performance, then immediately praising AC and Union Station. But that's okay - nobody in my camp bought his album. W&W impressed the crowd and were the act everyone in the campground was talking about the next day! Their set was pure roots, well executed and if you closed your eyes you could believe you were sitting on a porch in the backwoods of Appalachia. It's hard to beat their savory three-part harmonies, but the flood of notes from the mandolin, guitar, banjo, and bass left you breathless. They captured a tone that both defines bluegrass, yet feels completely fresh. My only disappointment was that I didn't see them playing campfires after the show. Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too...
