Green Eggs and Jam Festival Biography
Green Eggs and Jam Festival was born of the division of genres from The Dawg Daze of Summer Festival which was created in 2011 near Kansas City, MO. That festival featured several genres including bluegrass, blues, rock, jazz and funk. As the festival creators original intention was to have a festival based in bluegrass and the festival being named in thought of mandolin player David "Dawg" Grisman, The Dawg Daze of Summer Festival turned it's focus back to the original intentions of it being a bluegrass based festival. But this turn of focus didn't happen until after an unintended mixing of many genres had already taken place and a new family of festival goers emerged. This left a void in genres that needed filled in the hearts and ears of the regions music fans and thus Green Eggs and Jam Festival was born as a way to fill that void which left jam bands in rock, jazz, funk and reggae by the wayside. The name was selected through a survey so it suffices to say that Green Eggs and Jam Festival is a festival by the fans for the fans.
