Angela Parrish went to bed every night as a child with her father's singing voice in her ear and the bedtime stories they wrote together dancing in her head. The singer-songwriter now takes the stage with the belief that a fantastic song should tell a compelling story and tug on the heart of every listener. She is a vintage-modern artist and writer who proudly creates her own brand of American music. The richest of influences can be heard in her songs, including Carole King, Ray Charles, Eva Cassidy, Gregg Allman and Alison Krauss. But Angela's story is all her own. A born-and-raised Kansan, she wins audiences with her honest, emotional voice and distinctive piano playing while engaging with sharp and introspective lyrics.
Angela has garnered praise for her songwriting from across the country. Among other accolades, her song "The Couple Down the Hall" won second place in the inaugural Songwriters Hall of Fame Song Competition, and her song "Higher" was selected as a Finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2013. Her single "Different Tomorrow" earned a primetime placement on CBS television during the summer of 2015 and was heard by over four million viewers. She has performed at the Hollywood Bowl as a backup singer for legendary musician Ben Folds, and headlined singer-songwriter venues throughout the nation. Hailed as "a performer on the verge of greatness," Angela is proud to release her debut EP "Faithful and Tall" on August 25. The record was produced by Jamie Candiloro (Ryan Adams, R.E.M., Willie Nelson) and features Eric Heywood (The Pretenders, Ray LaMontagne) on pedal steel, Dani Moz on backing vocals, and guest vocals by Sean Watkins of the Grammy-winning band Nickel Creek. Angela lives, writes, and performs in Los Angeles.
