Acclaimed Chinese indie-folk singer-songwriter Ma Di (马頔) embarks on his first-ever U.S. tour, hitting 10 cities including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Bloomington, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles.
Since founding the indie-folk label Mayou Ye (Sesame Leaves), Ma Di has gained millions of followers mainly through his performances at major music festivals across China. His original composition "南山南" ("Nan Shan Nan") has made him one of the most influential indie-folk singers in China, and he continues to win acclaim from young Chinese folk musicians, singing about the joys and sorrows of life in Beijing.
This year, Ma Di will perform at Modern Sky Festival NYC on September 17 on Governors Island. The Modern Sky Festival was founded in Beijing in 2007, and today is one of 20+ large-scale music festivals produced in cities throughout mainland China by Modern Sky Entertainment, China's leading music entertainment company.
After his debut at Modern Sky Festival, Ma Di will continue his tour across the U.S., performing "南山南" ("Nan Shan Nan") and other hits with his full band.
