Lil Peep (born Gustav Åhr) is an American recording artist hailing from Long Island, New York. His songs "White Wine", "Star Shopping", and "The Way I See Things" have each gained over a million views on YouTube. His music video for the song "Girls", from his 2016 HELLBOY mixtape, was released in January 2017.
Early life and career
Originally from Pennsylvania, Åhr was raised in Long Island's South Shore. After dropping out of school, he began taking online computer courses and earned his diploma. He soon began making music and posting it on YouTube and SoundCloud. As of 2017, Åhr resides in Los Angeles, and is a member of collective GOTHBOICLIQUE and formerly SCHEMAPOSSE. Åhr's music contains lyrical themes regarding topics such as suicide, past relationships and drug use and has been described as "the future of Emo" by Steven J. Horowitz of online magazine Pitchfork. His musical influences include Gucci Mane, Crystal Castles and Panic! at the Disco. His songs have sampled such artists as Brand New, Radiohead, Underoath, Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, The Postal Service and The Microphones.
On February 27th, 2017 LiL PEEP uploaded his music video for the song "WitchBlades" recorded with singer/songwriter "LiL Tracy" Directed by METRO☆BLU. Prior to this, LiL PEEP had recorded nine videos independently for "Backseat", "GIRLS", "White Wine", "Gym Class", "Drugz", "Live Forever", "California World", "Your Eyes" , & "White Tee".
