Ava Raiin was born Michelle Renee in Minneapolis, with her twin sister, and raised between Minnesota with mom and Texas with dad; two pretty radical opposites. And tension between opposites shows up in Ava's work, as well: a base of classic R&B tweaked and stretched with electronic flourishes. After an unconventional childhood Ava moved to NYC and made her rounds in the artist circuit singing cover songs at open mic nights. A series of fateful meetings and introductions led her to stints in modeling, full-time creative production and touring gigs as a background singer and featured vocalist with a range of artists across the spectrum. Over the last few years Ava has shared the stage and collaborated with Melissa Etheridge, Blood Orange / Dev Hynes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Solange Knowles, Chrisette Michele and others and is now in the midst of making a new solo record.
