I honestly don't recall the exact date, but John opened for Robert Cray and all I can say is... what a mistake that was for Robert Cray. Don't get me wrong, Robert Cray is a great musician and was spot on, but the energy John brings to a show is so far beyond what Robert Cray could produce and this was back during the "Strong Persuader" tour... all I know, is I have been coming back over and over again ever since - loved the show with Bonnie Raitt, and can't wait to see him with Lyle next year - Keep on rockin'!!
Just John and his music. What a great time. No over produced slickness. Makes me smile just think about it. LT

I have never in 20 years of going to John Hiatt shows EVER been disappointed. He has a strong cult following, writes a lot of songs other, more famous bands/singers cover, and is unbelievable live!! He sweats out a long, heartfelt performance - standing O every time. Just saw him paired with Lyle Lovett - a totally different format than I'd seen him before and I wish I had a CD from the performance. John Hiatt has long been under-recognized. His albums are amazing, but there is nothing like a live John Hiatt concert. Well worth seeing over and over!
