Alan Olav Walker (born 24 August 1997) is a British-Norwegian record producer who was born in Northampton, England. He recorded the electronic dance music single "Faded".
Born in Northampton, Walker moved to Bergen, Norway, with his Norwegian mother and English father at the age of two. Growing up in the digital era, Walker found an early interest in computers which later turned into a fascination for programming and graphic design. He has no music history, so he browsed YouTube and he learned the basics on music making. In 2012 he started making music on his laptop and his songs soon caught the attention of record labels.
2015–present: "Faded" and "Sing Me to Sleep"
Walker's song "Fade" gained attention after its release on YouTube via the label NoCopyrightSounds. The tracks "Spectre" and "Force" followed in 2015. Walker signed with MER Musikk under Sony Music Sweden and his next single, "Faded", was a remastered vocal version of "Fade". It was released 25 November 2015 and featured uncredited female vocalist Iselin Solheim. The song topped the Norwegian VG-lista singles chart and the Swedish Sverigetopplistan charts and was a hit in Finland, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, many parts of European countries and some Asian countries.
