BrotherDege & the Brethren Biography
Brother Dege aka Dege Legg is one of the best kept secrets in the Deep South. Like the mad lovechild of Robert Johnson and Jackson Pollock born and raised in the swamplands of Louisiana – Legg is a writer, musician, artist, and a one-man juggernaut, pushing the slide guitar into the 21st century. Mixing the traditional slide playing of the Mississippi Delta Blues masters (Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, Bukka White) with the post-modern expressionism of Sonic Youth, Brother Dege's critically acclaimed songs veer from haunted slide-scapes to raw Delta barn burners that take the listener on a time-traveling trip into the south's past as well as the great unknown of its future. Brother Dege's "Hard Row to Hoe" is the theme song for Discovery Channels Deadliest Catch spin-off After the Catch. His album Folk Songs of the American Longhair was voted one of the top, independent roots & blues records of 2010. The future remains unwritten.
