The Chainsmokers are a New York City based disc jockey/producer duo consisting of members Andrew Taggart (born 1989) and Alex Pall (born 1989). They are managed by Adam Alpert of the management company 4AM.
Andrew Taggart was born in 1993 in Darien, CT. He was a member of the Love Team. Alex Pall was born in 1985 in New York City. Pall studied art at New York University, while Taggart studied at Syracuse University. In 2012, they came together as a DJ duo.
The Chainsmokers formed as electronic dance music producer DJs in 2012 under the management company 4AM in New York City. Their signature style incorporates unique dance music melodies with indie vocals. In 2012, they collaborated with Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra for the song "Erase", which was released on November 19, 2012, on Beatport. On December 4, 2012, the song was released to iTunes Store for digital download.They toured the world in 2012 and 2013 and continue to do so constantly. The song peaked at #38 on the US Billboard Pop Songs chart.
