Normani Biography
Normani Kordei Hamilton (born May 31, 1996), known professionally as "Normani", is an American singer-songwriter and dancer, best known as being a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, which was formed on the second season of The X Factor. She was a contestant in season 24 of Dancing with the Stars. Outside of the group, she released a solo single called "Love Lies", with R&B singer Khalid in February 2018.
Early life
Normani Kordei Hamilton was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in New Orleans to Derrick and Andrea Hamilton. She has two older half sisters, Ashlee and Arielle Hamilton. Her grandmother is Barbara Stewart. She and her family relocated to Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. At a young age, Kordei competed in gymnastics and beauty pageants. She has been singing and dancing since age 3. When she was 13 years old, she recorded her first song and had a small role in HBO's Treme. As a child, she used to sing gospel music.
Career
2012–present: Fifth Harmony
Kordei auditioned on the second season of The X Factor US in 2012 with Chain of Fools by Aretha Franklin. She advanced to the next round after getting all four approval yeses from the judges. It was during the second round of boot camp that led to her elimination. That marked the end of Kordei's X Factor journey as a solo artist, but it wasn't until she got called, and brought back to the show and put into a group with four other girls, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, and Camila Cabello, who would later become Fifth Harmony. At the end of the show's season, the group managed to make it to the finale and finished in third place.
In October 2013, Fifth Harmony released their first EP, Better Together. Subsequently, the group released their debut album, Reflection (2015), and their second album, 7/27 (2016), which spawned singles such as "Worth It" and "Work from Home", respectively. On August 25, 2017, Fifth Harmony released their self-titled album, their first as a quartet.
2017–present: Solo projects
In 2015, Kordei released two dance videos, "Commas" and "Do Not Disturb" with Fifth Harmony's choreographer, Sean Bankhead. As of December 2017, she has released three cover-mashups (of rapper Drake's songs Fake Love and Sneakin', R&B singer Solange's songs Cranes In The Sky and Don't Touch My Hair and Hip-hop and R&B singer Tory Lanez's song Say It) with the help of the producers, The Invaders. Kordei confirmed that she is working on "new song ideas" with R&B singer Khalid and was featured as a cameo in his music video Young Dumb & Broke. On October 21, it was announced via Instagram that Kordei had signed to management company and record label S10 Entertainment. Kordei recorded a song with Khalid called "Love Lies" for the soundtrack of the upcoming movie, Love, Simon. The song was released on February 14, 2018. Kordei signed her own solo record label to Stellar Songs as a songwriter.
Dancing with the Stars
Kordei competed on season 24 of Dancing with the Stars. Her partner was professional ballroom dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy. The couple reached the finals, and placed third with an average score of 36.6.

Philanthropy
Along with Fifth Harmony, Kordei had been involved with many charities like Girl Scouts of America and the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. In September 2016, Kordei was named the Diversity Ambassador for The Cybersmile Foundation, an international non-profit organization providing support for victims of cyberbullying and online hate campaigns, after being racially abused online. On January 26, 2017, Kordei was named as the first official celebrity ambassador for the annual Stars & Strikes Celebrity Bowling Event & Tournament hosted by the non-profit organization A Place Called Home. On February 24, 2017, it was announced that Kordei partnered with American Cancer Society as a global ambassador to help increase awareness about the importance of breast cancer screening and HPV vaccination.
