AJ Brown: "I had my first saxophone lesson when I was 10 and sang in the choir at primary school, but that was it for the singing until I was 18. It took me a long time to get the confidence and belief I needed."
"You don't choose music... it chooses you! From a very young age I was exposed to a wide range of styles... I truly believe that is how I got my ear."
"Songwriting is a funny beast! I've messed around with a few approaches... I find working at night is best, for some reason 'burning the midnight oil' just works for me. The majority of my songs are written at the piano... Most are music / melody first and then I'll add the lyric. In terms of inspiration I find general day-to-day observations are fun, watching a great film or concert often get the creative juices going, but at the end of the day most of my songs are 'love songs'. I don't need to explain why."
