DC Young Fly Biography

John Whitfield (born May 2, 1992), better known by his online alias and persona DC Young Fly, is an American rapper, actor, comedian, singer, and internet personality. He is known for his Vine videos, appearances on MTV's Wild 'n Out and is one of the five new hosts of the comeback of MTV's TRL on October 2, 2017.

DC Young Fly was born on May 2, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States and was raised in the Adamsville neighborhood, on the west side of town. The name DC Young Fly came from the love of his favorite comics, DC Comics, which he enjoys reading about everytime he goes to the bathroom, but claims to read it when he has to do a number 2. While attending Benjamin E. Mays High School, he was known to be a class clown and also a troublemaker. After his brother was killed in 2011, he began pursuing a rapping career and getting a D.C. (Da Crew) tattoo on his forehead in his brother's memory. In 2013 and early 2014 he started making Vine videos of himself, roasting people like B Daht and comedy star Fat and Paid. In September 2014, he used the slogans "Bring dat ass hea boi" and "Fawwwkumean" roasting Kevin Hart, Welvin Da Great, LeBron James, Drake and Meek Mill. His video on YouTube roasting Michael Blackson reached over 1 million views.
DC Young Fly became a recurring cast member on the improv comedy show, Wild 'N Out which is hosted by Nick Cannon. He also made his film debut as "Eric" in David E. Talbert's film Almost Christmas starring Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps, Danny Glover and Gabrielle Union, which was released on November 11, 2016. He also has a lead role in film #digitallivesmatter which was directed by Terri J. Vaughn. He made his BET debut acting in the hit miniseries The New Edition Story and original series by Irv Gotti Tales (TV series).
