    Mike Watt to hit the road in support of his Opera No. 3

    Legendary prolific punk Mike Watt will be touring in support of his third Opera, Hyphenated-Man. The punk opera will be performed by none other than Watt and his band, Mike Watt + The Missingmen. The tour begins in Santa Barbara, and will hit major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

    Motorhead to release new album, documentary, tour planned

    Lemmy and the boys in Motorhead, after a period of silence are back and bigger than ever. First, they have an upcoming album entitled The World Is Yours, which will be released February 8th of the new year. Second, they will be touring North America beginning January 25th. Last but not least, a documentary on the legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister will be released on a dual-disc dvd February 15th. The documentary is titled "Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch".

    Klaxons give away EP for free for Holidays

    Brit-rockers Klaxons have announced they will be giving away an EP's worth of tracks for free on the web. The tracks were from a scrapped session prior to the release of their sophomore effort released this year, Surfing The Void. The new EP, entitled Landmarks of Lunacy, was recorded with Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford at the helm. The EP can be downloaded from the Klaxons website.

    RIP Teena Marie

    The iconic R&B singer and protege of Rick James passed away over the weekend. At press time, no known cause of death was announced, but it was said that Marie's daughter found she had passed away in her sleep.

    Plain White T's release new album, announce headline tour

    Plain White T's have just announced a national headlining tour, hot on the heels of the release of their 5th studio album, Wonders Of The Younger. Vocalist Tom Higgenson said it was inspired by a recent performance he attended of Cirque du Soleil's "O". The album is doing well thus far, debuting at #1 on the iTunes rock charts.

    Janet Jackson announces fan-selected Number Ones tour

    Making her triumphant return to the world stage, Janet Jackson has announced her first date for her 2011 Number Ones Tour. The first date announced will be in Hong Kong, but the pop heavyweight has decided to take a different approach to booking the locations for her tour. 35 cities will be chosen out of 50 listed on her site, all voted on by fans who want her to come to their city. Additionally, the first 35 people to vote in each winning city will receive and autographed copy of both her Number Ones album and her upcoming self-help book, True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself.

    R.I.P. Captain Beefheart

    Avant-garde rock luminary Captain Beefheart (real name Don Van Vliet) has passed away at age 69. Vliet was known for collaborating heavily with Frank Zappa before heading off on his own, creating the Beefheart persona. Virtually every facet of avant-garde genres in music have been effected and influenced by this amazing musician.

    New Gorillaz album to be released on Christmas... for free

    Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn has announced that they will be releasing a new album on Christmas day, available free from the group's website. Albarn apparently created the album entirely on his Apple iPad. An advent calendar on the group's site reveals a "gift" every day, with Christmas Eve revealing a video for the first single, followed by the album on Christmas day.

    Lauryn Hill re-appears... briefly

    Lauryn Hill has announced she will be making a brief return to the music scene, scheduling a series of 6 dates throughout the next several months. Hill all but disappeared from the music community after her marriage to Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley.
