About Sheffield Arena
Sheffield Arena (formerly Hallam FM Arena and Motorpoint Arena Sheffield) is an arena located in Sheffield, England. The Arena can accommodate audiences from a theatre style 3,500 up to a 13,600 capacity making it the regions biggest capacity indoor Arena.
The arena opened as Sheffield Arena and was renamed Hallam FM Arena, but returned to its original name as of 1 November 2007. On 9 August 2010, Sheffield Arena was officially renamed Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, after the Derby based car sales company invested £1 million to rename the venue. It is home to the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Club. In August 2015 the arena was once again rebranded as Sheffield Arena.
The Arena was built to host the World Student Games & was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 30th May 1991. In the summer of 2013 the venue underwent a multi-million pound investment and now has a new roof, doors, seats, lighting, catering & toilet facilities.
